Me and my friends decided to participate in the Global Game Jam at Southampton this year. The theme we were given was "mask". Initially we spent the whole of Friday evening brainstorming, coming up with ideas for music and assets, and getting very excited for our project.
By Saturday morning we were in full swing, coding, drawing, designing levels for what would become a very well completed puzzle game. I spent most of my time drawing pixel art (something which I was not very used to) on a 2000 x 2000 pixel scale, so as you can imagine by arm was aching by the end of the day.
On Sunday morning we spent our time polishing up the project before going around the building and getting to test what other people had built. It was amazing to see the creativity and designs that other people had come up with.
Tom then announced the Southampton Global Game Jam People's Choice award and we won! It was incredibly rewarding to see all our hard work appreciated and enjoyed by fellow game jammers and peers and I can't wait to work on my next game related project.
